Olympic ‘Pizza King’ Andrew Torgashev ate pizza for 53 straight days — and lost weight

Andrew Torgashev, the American figure skater who competes in the men’s free skate Friday, has gotten the nickname “Pizza King” because of his… shall we say unexpected way of losing weight.

Torgashev has talked often about his regimen in 2002 of eating pizza for 53 straight days that he said led him to some key weight loss that brought the quad toeloop back into his skating routine.

He’s embraced the “Pizza King” monicker, even including it in his Instagram bio.

Bonus: What kind of music skaters use for their routines says a lot about them. According to NBC Sports,  Torgashev skated to “Maybe I Maybe You” performed by Scorpions in his first Olympic appearance, so he’s likely a classic rock fan.
